DOD Identifies Army Casualty

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation New Dawn.
            Chief Warrant Officer James B. Wilke, 38, of Ione, Calif. died Oct.10, in Doha, Qatar. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, Fort Bliss, Texas.

Well another three months has gone, seems to be just flying by, most days that is. Everybody is doing well, Soldiers looking out for other Soldiers helps us get through the bad days, and of course talking to the folks at home.
As far as what is desired by the troops, well coffee, popcorn, Raman noodles, snacks that help pass the midnight hour, the troops love drink mixes, jerky, and all other types of snack foods. Our dining facility is pretty good over here, but they don't stay open all the time and there are times we cannot leave our post to get it anyway, so thinks that you like to snack so do we.

Thank you for all the support, from the previous senders, we all loved the excitement of receiving the packages.

I would like to thank everyone for the boxes we have been receiving, i cant tell everyone how exciting it can be to get a box after no mail has run for a month. Now that the weather is changing we are putting up the hand warmers and gloves and preparing for the heat about to hit us. Being from El Paso it will be very different for several of us, as we are accustomed to dry heat, so dehydration is going to be a major factor for us here. Getting good American snacks can be hard to come by and some Soldiers have expressed their enjoyment of the Hostess/little Debbie cakes that have been sent in the past, and a mention of air fresheners has passed my area alot, its getting pretty hot and the aroma on some is worse than others if you get my drift. LOL!! We have had a shortage of coffee here in our area lately so any flavor sent would be appreciated. And of course, as usual, any flavor of beef jerky, top roman noodles and popcorn are always appreciated.

I want to say thank you to this web-site and the people who contribute to it. We have been very grateful to you all. Some of the favorites out here are as follows: Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, razors, shaving cream, beef jerky, sunglasses, candy, cards, games, bic lighters, socks, gloves, soft tissue / toilet paper (Charmin), toothbrushes, toothpaste, magazines, mouth-wash, gum, squirt guns ( it's hot here ), baby wipes, darts, nerf football, stick on hooks, chia pets, air fresheners, face masks/dust covers, ping pong balls, fruit snacks, trail mix, almonds, cashews, peanuts, and creativity.
Since we've been out here we've received a lot of love from you all and it's very much appreciated. It's a pleasant surprise to have full support of you all from such a distance. Thank you for everything and continue to box up your love and send it this way. We enjoy things you like, something’s that maybe we have never heard of. Hello all,
     First of all thank you for your interest in my section. We have just recently deployed from Texas and are excited to get to do our jobs day in and day out. This is my fourth deployment to this region and second to this location. Enough about me onto the Soldiers and the locations’ description.
     We live in billets and trailers; the power is either 110 or 220 volts; the troops do have laundry service however many of them do prefer to do their own laundry at the laundry trailers, so laundry detergent and dryer sheets would definitely be useful; the rooms have microwaves to boil water for quick meals such as Raman and popcorn; I am representing a section of Soldiers that provide Air and missile defense for a forward deployed Air Defense unit.
     Specific type items that would make our stay more comfortable include; sheets for twin size mattresses, deodorant, shower gels, basic toiletry items. Most the Soldiers enjoy snacks that include sunflower, seeds regular or flavored, all types of jerky and microwave popcorn. Electronics are hard to come by over here so any type of media players, gaming systems, or any other “down time killers” would be a great commodity.
     I know the Soldiers would appreciate anything that is send and nothing would go unused. Thank you again for interest in our section and if you decide to sponsor us thank you for your generosity.
